TradeMe is powered by your API keys. You choose which data sources to connect based on your needs and budget. The app works with zero paid APIs out of the box, but scales dramatically as you add more. Below is every API the system supports — what it does, what it costs, and where to get a key.
These two paid APIs unlock the full power of TradeMe. Everything else is free or built in.
Claude Sonnet by Anthropic is the AI engine behind every intelligent feature in TradeMe. It writes the trade theses for your Compiler Top 10, generates the Morning Brief, powers Deep Dive analysis, and classifies news sentiment. Without it, TradeMe is still a powerful scanner — but the AI layer that makes it unique requires this key.
FMP is TradeMe's premium data backbone. When connected, it sits at the top of every priority chain and provides the highest quality data available in the system. This is the single biggest upgrade to data quality in TradeMe. If you're only going to pay for one data API, make it this one.
These APIs provide substantial functionality at zero cost. Each one expands your data coverage without adding to your monthly bill.
Adjusted end-of-day stock bars, IEX intraday bars, live top-of-book prices, and financial news. Serves as Fallback #1 when FMP is unavailable.
Stock headlines, earnings calendar, and company sentiment scores. A solid supplementary news source.
The gold standard for U.S. economic data. CPI, GDP, unemployment rate, Treasury yields, Fed funds rate. Powers TradeMe's macro analysis modules.
Aggregates financial news from major outlets — Reuters, CNBC, WSJ, Bloomberg, and more. Broadest news coverage of any single source.
Supplementary news sentiment analysis and economic indicators. Lower priority but adds depth to the data stack.
Real-time SEC filings direct from the source. Form 8-K (material events) and Form 4 (insider trades) via RSS feed. No API key required — TradeMe connects automatically.
Stock prices, daily historical data, options chains, and basic earnings data. This is TradeMe's safety net — it's always active, requires no key, and cannot be disabled. Critically, it is the ONLY source for options chain data in the entire system.
Aggregated news from Reuters, CNBC, MarketWatch, Financial Times, Yahoo Finance, Seeking Alpha, and Google News. The final fallback in the news chain — ensures you always have news coverage.
TradeMe doesn't depend on any single API. When your primary source is unavailable, slow, or disabled, the system automatically tries the next source in the chain.
TradeMe scales with you. Start free, add APIs as you grow.
TradeMe includes a crypto module architecture with support for the following APIs. These are disabled by default and intended for advanced users. Crypto scanning features are in active development.
